Oshana x
Every Oshana piece is handmade with love. Sometimes by one hand, sometimes by several working together.
We love collaboration - read about some of our favourite past projects.

Beshara!
[Translation from the Arabic: ‘Good tidings’ or ‘New beginnings’]
The fabric of the Oshana philosophy is love and hope in the face of adversity. Small acts of kindness have a huge impact. With this in mind – and a very special collection in production at our studio in Lebanon - we are launching our new monthly newsletter, BESHARA! As well as updates on our work, here we celebrate and profile good people, ideas and creations; sharing things that are making us smile, and making a difference around the world. We hope they bring you some joy, too.

This cushion is designed by Alexandra Tolstoy and Benedict Foley. The design is based traditional Syrian and Palestinian motifs representing trees and flowers.
The Laleh cushion showcases the ancient Palestinian ‘ears of wheat’ embroidery motif, a symbol of resilience, abundance, and an enduring connection to the land. This red-hued, hand-embroidered design has been a hallmark of Palestinian culture for centuries, found in traditional garments and homeware. Palestinian embroidery was added to the UNESCO world cultural heritage list in 2019.
Crafted by displaced Palestinian and Syrian refugee artisans this cushion is more than just a decorative piece. It offers Oshana’s artisans a creative outlet to process trauma, connect to their heritage, and preserve a cultural legacy under threat.
The embroidery is stitched with 100% natural wool, dyed using vegetable-based dyes, reflecting the traditional techniques passed down through generations. With every stitch, the artisans honour their past and build a better future for their families, despite the challenges they face.
Specifications:
100% cotton embroidery thread, hand dyed using vegetables dyes.
100% linen backing.
This crochet top embodies the meaning of its Arabic name Farah: Joy. With its one-of-a-kind contrast stripes in delightful hues of mustard yellow and currant red, its soft cotton design, and its genuine social impact- what’s not to love?
The Farah is so versatile too- wear it in summer with a breezy skirt for an evening with friends, or put your favourite jumper underneath for cosy winter nights.
This design is joyful not only to wear, but to make too, as is evident through artisan Faten’s words:
“When we work, we forget a little the crises that we went through… we meet, sing and laugh and produce beautiful things. We love life.”
The Farah celebrates women like the incredible Faten, who despite all they have suffered still find the joy in life, and stitch it into each every design that they create.
The Farah is available in two colour-ways, you can find her more vibrant sister on our ‘Things to Wear’ page.

‘Habibi’ means ‘my dear’ in Arabic. These blankets make a meaningful and joyful gift for a child to keep forever, or to keep you snuggly while working from home.
When you buy one of our cosy habibi crochet blankets, you enable Syrian mothers to keep their children warm too - not to mention paying for food, a home, and education. Many of our artisans’ children were previously out of school as they had to work to help their families eke a living as refugees in Lebanon. Now they are studying again.
As for the blankets themselves, they are simply beautiful.
Every one is unique, the exuberant creation of an expert crocheter, done without a strict pattern. Each is signed in the corner by the maker.
PRE-ORDER
We are expecting more blankets soon but currently they are on pre-order. Please expect that they will take six to eight weeks to arrive, while they are handmade and shipped from Lebanon.
