Our Hayat cushion is directly inspired by a piece of old Palestinian embroidery.

At the heart of Palestinian embroidery there is a language of symbols. Each motif carries meaning — flowers and trees representing growth and renewal, birds symbolising freedom and hope. On the Hayat cushion, these motifs come together for us to represent life itself (the meaning of the Arabic word hayat): ears of corn running up the central panel, palm leaves on either side, and rambling roses along the border.

Hand-embroidered by Palestinian refugee women in Lebanon, Hayat is more than a cushion — it is a statement of heritage, identity, and survival. In the face of immense loss and destruction, every piece becomes a statement of identity, of heritage, of history, of survival and of endurance - of life itself.
