The Sunbula cushion is based on the shapes of traditional Syrian and Palestinian embroidery tree motifs.
The design is painstakingly hand-stitched by the refugee women we work with. Each stitch represents the community, confidence and pride that they find in this work. In the words of artisan Fatima, “I feel I am flying high as I am earning my living and being independent. It helps me pay rent and get food for my children, as well as be creative and feel a sense of achievement."
