Enas cushion with hand-crochet trim - yellow green

£55.00

Named Enas, meaning “one with a friendly and jovial demeanour” in Arabic, this charming cushion embodies serenity, comfort, and quiet joy. Enas feels equally at home in the most elegant drawing room as it does in a homely, welcoming corner – a piece that soothes and uplifts in equal measure.

It comes in two colourways - either a soft blue, green, and white striped fabric, finished with a delicate hand-crocheted scalloped trim in pale blue; or a pleasing mustardy yellow gingham with a contrasting hand-crocheted scalloped trim in green. Both gorgeous as a standalone pieces, paired with each other, or with other cushions in our collection.

TheEnas cushion is part of our programme helping Syrian refugee women earn a dignified living through craft. Crochet, while simple to learn, offers immense creative and therapeutic value. Through learning to make a crochet trim for Enas, women are able to gain new skills and begin earning an income without needing years of prior experience.

Michelle Obama has said of her own practice, “knitting got me mentally through lockdown”. Our artisans, who have lived through war, displacement and more, can testify to the mental health benefits of craft. In the words of Nariman, one of our artisans: “This work got me out of a crisis psychologically and financially. I love the work and enjoy being creative. I love the friends I made through the knitting club. Every week I count the days till the next one.”
